Leslie's thoughts:
Hubby gets to meet everyone in town due to his line of work. He is a fancy banker, I find his job a little boring but he loves it and that is all that matters. Either way he gets to go to all these events, play golf and most important meet interesting people. One of these fabulous persons was actor and director Baldemar Rodriguez.
He invited my Hubby to a special screening of his new movie, In Search of the American Dream. So my honey took me and his parents along for this captivating film. The special screening was at the newly renovated Viva Cinema.
We got to chat with the charismatic Baldemar and some of the cast of the movie. There were a lot of the leaders in the Latino community here in Houston. All to support Baldemar and his film. I was coming straight from work so I was constantly running away from the cameras. After a 15 hour day anyone would hide.

George's thoughts:
I was very fortunate to be one of the few that got to attend
the V.I.P. showing of Baldemar Rodriguez film “In Search of The American Dream.”
The movie is one man’s struggle to keep what is left of his family together;
the movie is about immigration and the current system. Though the actual movie is a fictionally based
story line it actually feels almost documentary in its style. We as American
Citizens take our citizenship for granted and none of us who are consider legal
could or ever would want to endure the hardship that so many migrants face in
searching for their American Dream. This movie’s artistic ability to drag its
viewer into the emotional turmoil is phenomenal.
It is hard to fully
comprehend that a country that boost that they provide a dream of a land in
which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with
opportunity for each according to ability or achievement and that we are a
melting pot of so many nationalities, religions, and cultures can so easily
forget this when dealing with an undocumented resident that has come to fulfill
their dreams.
Though the movie makes no real political statement nor does
it take any partisan side it does stress the importance as Legal citizens to do
our part to retain the true values that our fore father fought for and
proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence – “We hold
these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are
endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are
Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
